The good old year of 2005 is now history. We can remember, try to forget, try to repress or appreciate the things that happened during the past year. Now they are only memories and yet they influence what will take place this year. A new chapter is to be written in the history of mankind and we can create a new beginning and decide which paths to beat. 

I hope this will be a successful year for Arjeplog as well as for all of you. We (both locals and car testers) exist in symbiosis and are dependent on one another. Together we can generate prosperity that benefits us all. The people of Arjeplog are being employed and can rent out their homes, the shops have more customers and the hotels are fully booked. The atmosphere in Arjeplog is more international and our everyday life is enhanced. For our guests, there is the possibility of developing better cars for the future as well as experiencing Lapland. This is a wonderful example of a win-win situation.

I hope that the higher powers will provide good weather conditions so the test tracks can be prepared in a proper manner. I am a little anxious that the winter has been too warm until now. I cross my fingers and hope for better conditions.

However, there is more than work and prosperity to wish for at the beginning of a new year. I wish that we all will be healthy during the forthcoming year and that we will be spared from accidents and disasters. The Tsunami in Asia and the earthquake in Pakistan have darkened the memories of 2005 but hopefully the memories of 2006 will be brighter when we will look back and remember.
